Albert Joly

The Joly estate totals just 11 acres, all of which is in Puligny. Nearly half of their holdings are in the Bourgogne appellation, with the balance being Village-level parcels. The Puligny Village wines are separated into two lieux-dits bottlings; Les Tremblots which boarders Chassagne and one on the opposite side of the village, Les Charmes which is really a continuation of Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes. The vines are properly matured—their plot in Les Tremblots has the oldest vines, which are about 60 years-old, much of the rest being about 40 years-old.

Sylvie Prevot-Joly took over the estate from her father Albert in 2007, and started estate bottling at that time. Working together with her brother-in-law Gilles, she still sells 80-85% of her fruit to negociants, so the production under the Joly label is quite limited. That will surely change as the reputation of the domaine starts to gather some well-deserved steam. They produce pure, classic Puligny - crisp whites with supple fruit and great energy and a purity of precision and minerality that could only come from Puligny.

  • Puligny-Montrachet Les Charmes

Because of its proximity to Meursault this Puligny-Montrachet has a touch of richness and shades of gun powder and matchstick to go with the precision and purity of Puligny.

  • Puligny-Montrachet Les Tremblots

This lieu-dit borders with Chassagne-Montrachet. Location, combined with old vines, gives Les Tremblots a bit more texture to pair with just a touch of lemon curd.

  • Puligny-Montrachet Les Reuchaux

The pure-Puligny vibe of this lieu-dit is a result of its location—dead center in the appellation. Classic Puligny-Montrachet with crisp apple, bright lemon, and just a touch of reduction.

  • Puligny-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes

Only made in the exceptional years this is a blend of the oldest vines - 75 years or more - and offers a transparent window into the terroir that only old vines can pull off.

  • Bourgogne Côte D'Or

From estate holdings going back seven generations, these vines sit in front of the village vineyards of Puligny-Montrachet. True baby-Puligny with pedigree.

  • Aligoté

Bright, light gold color. Dry with citrus, lemon, and stone fruit notes. Just a touch of sea-spray and nutty almonds.
